What Is Digital Signature ?

The digital signature is a legally valid mechanism in any country that relies on secure electronic transactions. Several organizations such as the banking sector have made progress in implementing security mechanisms but only the digital signature has the power of non-repudiation to guarantee the authenticity and authorship of the transactions.

How do you implement digital signature in a web?

The basic use of digital signature is to replace the traditional authentication scheme and password with an updated and advance digital signature. Digital signatures give confidence to both parties involved in a transaction. Here are the reasons why digital signatures are crucial:

- the sender wants to be sure that your transaction will take place and that nobody else can do it in your name or falsify your data

- the receiving organization wants to be sure that the transaction effectively comes from the person owning the certificate and that this can not repudiate any transaction made

Hermes accomplishes this through various software components that enable companies to:

- Digitally sign client PC in the html form fields before they are sent to the server.

- To validate the digital signature of form in the server certificate information used to sign digital signature and access for storage.

- Build a receipt signed digitally on the server of a transaction sent by a user.

Create a blog with digitally signed transactions by users.

Digital signature applications in Costa Rica

To date, there are not many production applications that take advantage of the digital signature in Costa Rica.

Possibly the best known is CompraRed where commercial providers can submit their bids, clarifications, objections and, in general, all administrative procurement processes electronically through the use of digital certificates. CompraRed started with digital certificates generated by the Ministry of Finance has already made the changes to use also generated SINPE / MICIT. CompraRed is currently working on the generation of digitally signed electronic invoices.

The CFIA has also implemented digital signatures on the Construction Manager (APC). This system performs the digital visa avoiding travel plans, reducing process times and thereby reducing the time associated with the entire process.

Hermes is currently working on implementing its technology in major state banks to reduce the problems that affect them.
