How on earth does hybridization effect e-business and the way that it is performed? The new hybrids are called “click and mortar” because they are just that.

Many of the traditional brick and mortar businesses want to do more than just have an on-line presence, they desire market dominance. Wal-Mart is the lead player in this enterprise. They already have market dominance in the brick and mortar environment, now they are looking for total control of the market.

These companies are using their existing methodology in order to achieve this. They figure that what worked once will work again. Well, maybe. There are entities in the e-business environment that can and do play these new businesses at their own game. However, they have been in said game for longer and thus have optimized web site and other functions that allow them to keep a step ahead of the would be usurpers. The big guys are not going to get things all their own way.
